A good overall quality in most aspects of the property. A good standard of cleanliness and maintenance.
Fair to good quality overall, with furniture, furnishings and fittings all in sound condition and offering a good standard of cleanliness.
It's important to bear in mind that the Star Grade takes into account the nature of the property and expectation of the guests - so a farmhouse is just as entitled to Five Stars as a country hotel, as long as what it offers is of the highest quality.

The grades reflect the overall quality of furnishings and decoration, not the range of facilities. So a small cottage can achieve a top grade if what it offers, although limited in range, is of a very high standard.

AA Star Grading Schemes
The scheme rates hotels from one to five stars. For guest houses and other small establishments, one to five diamonds are used. This scheme is based more on the provision of facilities and services than the Visit Wales star grades, which are based primarily on quality.
Accommodating Visitors with Disabilities
Visit Wales no longer features the old National Accessibility Scheme symbols, as they are open to interpretation.Instead it recommends that all tourism operators make available an "Access Statement"for potential visitors.Businesses using a verified Access Statement are denoted by the symbol above.
